Beautiful Disaster by Jamie Mcguire Review

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.
Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Sheesh! This book was a roller coaster. Initially beginning as your typical good-girl-meets-bad-boy, Beautiful Disaster quickly unfolds into much more. Somewhat slow at times, this book was an enjoyable read. To be honest, I didn’t overly care for the larger than life twist that comes towards the end. I found it a bit too unbelievable and I did not enjoy much of the book beyond that. Likewise, I did not finish Walking Disaster, which is Travis’ point of view of Beautiful Disaster. Personally, the story just grew tiresome for me.

I will say, the meet-cute and interactions of Travis and Abby are great. It’s everything you would want from a romantic story. You’re left begging for more of them together. Sometimes I’m probably just too picky. Thousands of readers adore this book, but I can’t seem to get past my lukewarm feelings. However, I would read more from Jamie Mcguire in the future. Maybe we haven’t seen the last of Abby and Travis.
